Kim was born in Harbin, China and lived there until she came to the United States in 2004. She graduated from Harbin Medical University with a Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery and worked in the delivery room at Harbin Medical University Hospital for nearly 20 years.

In her role as lab technician, Kim is responsible for yeast quality control which includes fermentation, HPLC, yeast viability and contamination. Kim is also responsible for the bacteria isolate program which includes mash sample contamination/antibiotic testing.
